Salinas man discovered asleep in drive-thru sentenced for seventh DUI conviction

A Salinas man was sentenced to 3 years in state jail for his seventh DUI conviction, with 4 felony DUI convictions coming within the final 10 years, authorities mentioned.
The person, recognized as Carlos Alvarez, 33, of Salinas, was arrested on a felony DUI cost involving an incident in June 2025, the Monterey County district legal professional’s workplace mentioned in a information launch.
Alvarez was arrested at an In-N-Out restaurant in Salinas after a safety guard alerted California Freeway Patrol officers to a “doable drunk driver that was asleep on the wheel within the drive by line.” When the CHP officers made contact with Alvarez, they instantly smelled the robust odor of “urine, vomit, and an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the automobile,” in response to prosecutors.
Authorities arrested Alvarez on a felony DUI cost as a consequence of his prior convictions.
The district legal professional’s workplace didn’t disclose what sentences, if any, have been imposed on Alvarez for his prior convictions.
The case was investigated by the CHP and was prosecuted by the Monterey County district legal professional’s specialised DUI Vertical Prosecution Unit.
