Pacific Coast Freeway is slated to reopen Friday forward of Memorial Day weekend following its months-long closure.

A stretch of the enduring coastal street has been closed off to the general public since early January as a result of Palisades Fireplace. Crews have since tended to the affected communities and have labored on the freeway.

The reopening comes forward of schedule after Gov. Gavin Newsom introduced in April that it could be open in time for the summer season.
