After a TV drought that felt like endlessly, I turned on The Different Bennet Sister, and it caught me off guard…
Actually, once I noticed the trailer, I wasn’t certain if I’d watch it. The jokes fell flat, and the entire thing seemed a bit blah. However! I made a decision to sally forth, as they are saying, and 5 minutes into the primary episode, I used to be hooked.
The story follows Mary Bennet, the center of 5 sisters, whom Jane Austen described in Delight and Prejudice as “the one plain one within the household” who “had neither genius nor style.” (Harsh!) However within the present, after Mary’s 4 sisters get married and transfer away, she heads to London to be a governess and search for happiness herself — and perhaps even love.
Reader, I used to be SO charmed. I beloved the actress Ella Bruccoleri, and the empire-waist attire, and the beautiful landscapes after they took a visit to the Lake District. However, most of all, it felt shockingly good to look at a personality who’s so beloved for her thoughts.
