LeBron James caught ‘off guard’ by Lakers’ blockbuster Luka Doncic commerce

LeBron James apparently had no concept the Lakers have been getting ready to commerce his longtime teammate and co-star, Anthony Davis.

James was “taken off guard” by the blockbuster commerce sending Davis to the Mavericks for famous person Luka Doncic, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin stated throughout a tv spot Sunday morning.

McMenamin reported early Sunday morning shortly after the information of the commerce broke that James was out to dinner with household and buddies in New York following the Lakers’ Saturday night time win over the Knicks at Madison Sq. Backyard when he came upon concerning the deal from ESPN’s Shams Charania, who first reported the information.

“James was stunned by the information, is processing it and had no concept it was within the works,” McMenamin wrote on X.

As soon as the commerce was agreed to, Lakers basic supervisor Rob Pelinka first arrange a joint name with Davis and head coach JJ Redick, then he known as Davis’ and James’ agent, Wealthy Paul. Pelinka then known as James, per McMenamin.

Whereas James has but to publicly handle the commerce instantly, he did reply on X to a report that stated he had “grown pissed off” with Davis.

“You a fkn lie!!! 🤥🤡,” James wrote.

Together with Doncic, the Lakers obtained Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris whereas the Mavericks bought Davis, Max Christie and the Lakers’ 2029 first-round choose. The Jazz landed Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2025 Clippers second-rounder and a 2025 Mavericks second-rounder within the three-team deal.

The Lakers acquired Davis in the summertime of 2019, and he and James led the Lakers to an NBA championship within the 2020 COVID bubble.
