‘Inexcusable:’ State DPU feedback on Nationwide Grid billing error – Boston Information, Climate, Sports activities

BOSTON (WHDH) – The Massachusetts Division of Public Utilities (DPU) says round 35,000 clients didn’t get their month-to-month payments when off-peak charges took impact in November.

When Nationwide Grid realized the error, some clients obtained a number of payments without delay and a few haven’t obtained any in any respect.

Now, the state says Nationwide Grid can solely accumulate funds for the final 60 days.

For many who obtained payments overlaying greater than 60 days, the quantity over that point interval can be waived or refunded.

In a letter to Nationwide Grid, DPU officers wrote, “The corporate’s failure to proactively acknowledge the billing difficulty and work constructively with the Division to craft an applicable resolution is inexcusable.”

Nationwide Grid responded, saying partly, “we acknowledge the affect delayed payments could have on family budgets, significantly throughout the winter season, and we’re absolutely cooperating with the DPU’s order.”
