I Lastly Figured Out How To not Cry Whereas Chopping Onions

Our upstairs neighbors are touring, and since we famously can’t prepare dinner salmon once they’re house, I made a decision to make salmon gyro bowls for dinner.

The one catch? I’d have to cut an onion.
Each time I chop an onion, I, like most individuals, weep like a child. Tears streaming down my face, making an attempt to look away with out reducing off a finger, the entire shebang. So, this time, I attempted one thing new.
I wore glasses and lit a candle. I’d heard about these techniques through the years and at last determined to present them a strive. And, lo and behold, my eyes felt fully regular — no tears in sight. I might have reduce onions allllll day lengthy.

My pal Michael and I had been amazed. (Toby didn’t care.)
How nice is that??? And now that I’m a free lady, what are your greatest onion-forward recipes? I’m considering: cauliflower and onion gratin, rigatoni with caramelized onions and gorgonzola, and Jenny’s broccoli soup.
P.S. Motherhood poems that make us snicker and cry, and what’s your greatest kitchen hack?
