BOURNE, MASS. (WHDH) – Bourne’s police chief has been suspended for allegedly leaving his firearm unattended.

City officers mentioned Chief Brandon Esip eliminated his service belt and holster to maneuver some containers and left the belt sitting on a bench unsupervised.

One other officer seen the firearm and reported it.

The weapon was unarmed and the service belt didn’t comprise ammunition.

Esip was issued a five-day suspension with two days delayed.
