A kayaker was attacked by a shark Sunday morning off the coast of Malibu, in keeping with lifeguards.

The assault was reported at about 7:30 a.m. at Paradise Cove, in keeping with lifeguard Alex Buford. There, a person on a fishing kayak hooked a shark and introduced it onto the vessel.

“The shark bit him, he let the shark go after which the shark got here again and knocked him off the boat and attacked him once more and bit his leg once more,” Buford stated.

Passengers of a close-by fishing boat helped the person get to security after the assault, in keeping with Buford. The severity of the sufferer’s accidents is unclear.

The shark concerned within the assault is believed to have been a Shortfin Mako Shark, the lifeguard stated. Mako sharks are identified to be quick and aggressive predators, rising on common 6 to 7 toes.

“Mako sharks usually keep in deeper water, so I do not suppose there’s an excessive amount of concern for shallow water swimming or something,” Buford stated. “That’s why we haven’t closed down (the seaside).”
