Richard Fletcher, a lifelong educator, coach, and devoted household man, handed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, on the age of 83. Born in Everett, Massachusetts, on November 21, 1941, to Lilian (née Blake) and John C. Fletcher, Richard embodied the values of onerous work, neighborhood, and kindness that outlined his life.
A graduate of Melrose Excessive College (Class of 1959), Richard went on to earn his diploma from Northeastern College in 1964. That very same yr, he started a distinguished 39-year profession with the Newton Public Colleges, leaving an indelible mark on generations of scholars. He began at Pierce Elementary College, later taught at Bigelow Junior Excessive, and spent 1 / 4 century as a beloved bodily training trainer at Newton North Excessive College.

Richard was the husband of Warene Lacey Fletcher; the brother of Janet Fletcher of Marstons Mills, MA; and the daddy of daughter Amy Anderson (and her husband, Brian Anderson) of Ossining, NY, and sons Jason Fletcher (and his spouse, Jodi Fletcher) of Needham, MA, and John Fletcher of Media, PA. His biggest pleasure got here from his grandchildren—Luke Anderson (27), Nicholas Anderson (25), Lilly Fletcher (14), and Aaron Fletcher (13).
An enthusiastic golfer, Richard celebrated two holes-in-one—a becoming testomony to his precision, endurance, and love for the sport.
Richard Fletcher lived a lifetime of service, mentorship, and quiet excellence. He will probably be remembered for the years he taught and for the lives he touched.
A memorial service will probably be held on Saturday, November 22, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Eaton & Mackay Funeral Residence, 465 Middle Avenue, Newton Nook, Massachusetts 02458.
