‘First transfer towards indigenous defence’: Deepinder Goyal’s LAT Aerospace acquires robotics startup

Deepinder Goyal, co-founder of Zomato, on Tuesday introduced the acquisition of Sharang Shakti, an early-stage protection robotics startup primarily based in Gurugram. This acquisition marks LAT Aerospace’s first step into the protection sector.

“That is our first transfer towards constructing indigenous defence capabilities alongside our long-term mission of creating next-generation civil aviation platforms from India,” Goyal wrote on X.

Goyal mentioned that whereas civil aviation and protection have historically been considered as separate sectors, they share a typical core know-how stack. The know-how behind autonomy, notion, sensing, navigation, steering, and management techniques is on the coronary heart of each industries. 

By integrating Sharang Shakti into LAT Aerospace, Goyal mentioned he goals to construct these capabilities from scratch, with plans to deploy them throughout each protection and civil aviation platforms over time.

LAT Aerospace was based in June 2025 by Goyal and co-founder Surobhi Das.
