Ex-Proud Boys chief Enrique Tarrio out of jail after Trump pardon

WASHINGTON — Former Proud Boys extremist group chief Enrique Tarrio and Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes have been launched from jail after their prolonged sentences for seditious conspiracy convictions within the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol had been wiped away by a sweeping order by President Donald Trump benefitting greater than 1,500 defendants.

Rhodes and Tarrio had been two of the highest-profile defendants Jan. 6 defendants and acquired among the harshest punishments in what turned the biggest investigation in Justice Division historical past.

Their attorneys confirmed to The Related Press on Tuesday that they had been launched hours after Trump pardoned, commuted the sentences of or ordered the dismissal of instances in opposition to all of the 1,500-plus individuals who had been charged with federal crimes within the riot.
