Glad Publish-Election Day! | Cup of Jo

“Glad post-election day to all who rejoice!!!” wrote a CoJ reader named Caryl this morning. A reader named Marisa then urged: “Possibly we will have a day publish to rejoice?” My reply is, YES, nice concept!

How are you feeling at present?! After the gorgeous blue sweep final evening, Democrats gained management of the Home and Senate. Democrats flipped governorships in Texas, Georgia, Nevada, Ohio, and Iowa; and picked up seven Senate seats in Texas, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, Maine, North Carolina, and South Carolina. (Adam Hamilton’s victory marked the primary time Kansas elected a Democratic senator in nearly 100 years!)

Above, clockwise: Chris Pappas, Abdul El-Sayed, Keisha Lance Bottoms, Deb Haaland, and Peggy Flanagan.

A number of incredible firsts:
Abdul El-Sayed (Michigan) will grow to be the nation’s first Muslim senator.
Deb Haaland (New Mexico) will grow to be the nation’s first Native American girl governor.
Peggy Flanagan (Minnesota) will grow to be the nation’s first Native American girl elected to the U.S. Senate.
Keisha Lance Bottoms (Georgia) will grow to be the nation’s first Black girl governor.
Chris Pappas (New Hampshire) will grow to be the nation’s first overtly homosexual man elected to the U.S. Senate.

“This was a Democratic tsunami,” wrote Niall Stanage in The Hill.

And right here’s a reel to make your coronary heart sing…

Sending a lot love at present! xoxo
