Gerald Freeny, who made historical past as the primary Black president of the Pasadena Event of Roses Affiliation, has handed away, a spokesperson for the group stated Friday. He was 66.

Freeny joined the affiliation — which produces the annual Rose Parade on New Yr’s Day — in 1988 and served for greater than 30 years earlier than changing into president in 2019.
