Report: Arizona State investigating Blues prospect’s collapse after exercise
Arizona State College is investigating the circumstances round Matthew Mayich’s collapse final Thursday.
Mayich, 21, is a defenceman on the Arizona State hockey workforce and was drafted within the sixth spherical of the 2023 NHL Draft by the St. Louis Blues.
“A student-athlete who collapsed throughout an outside train Thursday morning stays hospitalized,” ASU vp of media relations Chris Fiscus informed The Athletic. “The coed-athlete, a member of the ASU hockey workforce, isn’t being named by the college due to privateness pursuits. The college is reviewing the circumstances surrounding the exercise.”
Fiscus didn’t say whether or not the exercise was sanctioned by the ASU hockey workforce.
Per The Athletic‘s report, “Tempe Hearth Medical Rescue despatched crews to 400 S. Rural Street, the deal with for Solar Angel Stadium, at 8:31 a.m. Thursday, after receiving a report of a ‘heat-related sickness.’ A affected person was handled there and transported to a close-by hospital, the hearth division stated.”
Mayich has not signed an entry-level cope with St. Louis.
He spent his freshman season at Clarkson College in 2025-26, scoring seven objectives and 15 factors in 34 video games.
Mayich introduced on the finish of the season that he could be transferring to Arizona State for 2026-27.
