A person arrested in Mexico was extradited to the U.S. to face a homicide cost in reference to a lethal freeway taking pictures in Boyle Heights practically two years in the past, officers mentioned Thursday.

The taking pictures that occurred on the 5 Freeway close to Lorena Avenue on Oct. 10, 2024, left one man useless and one other injured, in accordance with the California Freeway Patrol. The person who died was 29-year-old Encarnacion Escobedo, authorities mentioned.

The suspects took off and have been later recognized as 21-year-old Christian Rojas of Bellflower and 47-year-old Joshua Rojas Sr. of Downey, the CHP mentioned. The latter was arrested in San Bernardino practically two weeks after the taking pictures and stays in custody awaiting trial.

Investigators say they realized Christian Rojas was hiding in Mexico and issued a $4.3 million bail warrant for his arrest. The CHP sought help from the U.S. Marshals Service, which labored with Mexican state police to search out him.

Christian Rojas was arrested in Palomo de Arriba, Mexico, on Tuesday and was taken to the U.S., the place he was booked into jail on the energetic warrant, authorities mentioned.
