Gasoline line explosion in Castaic prompts 5 Freeway closure

Los Angeles County firefighters had been responding to a gasoline line explosion in Castaic on Saturday, which prompted California Freeway Patrol to shut a portion of the 5 Freeway and the fireplace division to order residents to shelter in place.

Los Angeles County Fireplace Division obtained a number of reviews of the explosion round 4:20 p.m. close to Ridge Route Street and Pine Crest Place, simply south of Northlake Hills Elementary Faculty.

Shortly after that, L.A. County Fireplace Division Station 149, a mile down the street, reported smelling gasoline. Kight stated he might scent the gasoline from “20 minutes out.”

The CHP indefinitely closed all lanes of the 5 Freeway at 5:12 p.m. On the social platform X, the CHP stated all northbound site visitors can be diverted to State Route 126, and all southbound site visitors to State Route 138.

Visitors alongside the 5 has remained at a close to standstill for greater than 90 minutes.

A landslide in Castaic has ruptured an underground gas line.

The shelter in place order, issued at 5:40 p.m., spans a lot of Castaic and advises residents to shut all doorways, home windows and vents, and shut off HVAC methods.

By 6 p.m., the gasoline firm had shut off each side of the damaged gasoline line, however firefighters and a hazmat job pressure continued to reply a residual leak.

The reason for the explosion is unknown.
