EVERETT, MASS. (WHDH) – Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria is battling to maintain controversial bonuses he acquired whereas in workplace.

DeMaria requested a decide to make clear the phrases of his contract and a metropolis ordinance.

In February the state inspector normal decided DeMaria was improperly paid $180,000.

The investigation discovered that the mayor and his aides misapplied the mayoral longevity ordinance and hid the funds from the metropolis council and the general public.
